We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kay Smith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kay, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?


As a pilates instructor I believed as long as I stayed active, I’d be free of pain always. By 2018, I had developed severe osteoarthritis in both shoulders. It got so bad, I could no longer drive the stick shift of my Mini Cooper. That began my quest in how to heal myself. I took a year long course of Eden Energy Medicine to learn energy techniques. I learned a lot, and improved certain aspects of my health, but not the arthritis. I also tried chakra clearing, Reiki and the Emotion Code. Nothing helped.

A defining moment came when I met someone at a network meeting who said she was a Theta healer. I was intrigued and tried a few sessions. I felt a release of some old beliefs and patterns that had been holding me back for years. It felt like Divine Timing so I signed up for certification classes in Theta Healing. During the Advanced Theta Healing class, the arthritis in my shoulders completely healed! It was the miracle I had been looking for. And now I’m passionate about helping others heal with this technique.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers


“I’m what you would call a “seeker.” All my life, I’ve sought after truths that are beyond mainstream.

I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and its amazing ability to heal. When I began having symptoms of Celiac Sprue, I remember going to a doctor who asked me how nervous I was. This was back when no one knew anything about gluten, so I began seeking help at natural health food stores. After reading an article about Celiac, I tried the gluten free diet and like magic, all my symptoms cleared up!

I started listening more to my intuition. My family called me a “health nut.” Eventually I became a personal trainer, and then a pilates instructor. I kept acquiring more knowledge about the body and earned my certification as a “Metabolic Nutrition” counselor. People seemed to trust me for advice and would ask me for help with their symptoms or ailments. I always had an answer for them. I didn’t think much of it. It was just natural to know how to help them.

I explored other ways to be healthy like doing QiGong and getting certified in BioEnergy, which is a way to clear and open up the Chakras. So if a pilates client had a pain in their body, I would use my hand to clear it.

I began studying about emotions and their effect on the body. I studied with Herman Mueller, the founder of Psychosomatics and Body Analysis. I studied the Emotion Code and how to clear emotions quickly and easily.
I then began focusing more on energy and vibration and began to study about crystals. Then I studied about vibrations in the environment and earned my certification as a dowser to help clear spaces. Later I got certified in Healing Dowsing and used my dowsing rods to send healing energy to organs, sore throats, headaches and more. And the problems would clear up.

Eventually, because of some shoulder issues I was having, someone referred me to a practitioner of Energy Medicine. I was fascinated with the flow of energy through the meridians, the Radiant Circuits, and the Auric field. I signed up for a 4 month course. I started working on people and clearing up issues. I even helped discover the root cause of a woman’s headaches she had had for 30 years.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?


“My most effective strategy to grow my clientele is being of service and giving 100% to my clients. I really listen to them and use my intuition to assess their individual needs.

I also bring a joyful heart to everything I do. Most of the time, clients are in pain or hurting emotionally. I let them vent and also help them laugh. Life is supposed to be fun!

And when the client experiences good results, they tell others about me. It’s mostly a referral system that works best for me.”

Adapting to the Pandemic and Building a Life You Love

The coronavirus pandemic triggered everyone to make big changes, often unwillingly. Yet some of the changes we made were more intentional. Here are a few ways people altered the shape and direction of their lives for the better during the pandemic and tips for making those changes permanent.


Reignited passion projects

Some of us needed a side hustle to pad our budgets. Others needed a way to fill their newfound free time. Whatever the reason, countless people reignited old hobbies and discovered new passions during the pandemic.

As people return to the office, it becomes harder to allot time to hobbies. However, these stress-relieving pastimes are worth keeping on the schedule. In addition to lowering stress and boosting your mood, hobbies are good for overall health. Make time for hobbies by building them into your routine. Identify downtime in your week and dedicate it to your chosen hobbies. Blocking time for your personal life ensures your free time is fulfilling. If you struggle with procrastination and overworking, use time management apps to make better use of your days.


Turned hobbies into careers

For some, those hobbies blossomed into something more. Countless people turned passion projects into side hustles during the pandemic, from dog walking businesses to garden consulting services and more.

Now, those businesses have grown and people are turning their side hustles into full-time businesses. That means thinking about things like liability protection and business taxes. It seems overwhelming at first, but setting yourself up as an LLC is surprisingly easy. Single-member LLCs are taxed as pass-through entities just like sole proprietors. But unlike sole proprietorships, LLCs protect your personal assets. In addition to the steps you take to file LLC in Texas online (this only takes a few forms in Texas), you’ll want to buy business insurance, apply for an EIN, and open a bank account to manage business finances.


Supported their communities

When people weren’t innovating, they were going out of their way to support those who were. Commitment to shopping locally rose during the pandemic along with volunteering and mutual aid initiatives.

As life returns to normal, stay engaged with your local community. Join neighborhood organizations, attend City Council meetings, or run for an elected position. Looking for a smaller commitment? Organize a neighborhood project like a community garden, public art project, or Little Free Library. Hyper-local initiatives like these are a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors and build community. If you need to raise money for a neighborhood project, try crowdfunding, organize a fundraising event, or ask local businesses to sponsor your project.


Embraced the simpler life

Those communities might not be the same ones where we lived at the start of the pandemic. Millions of people relocated during the pandemic. Some moved to escape cramped cities while others moved back home to be closer to family.

Now, we’re settling down permanently, swapping city living for space to stretch our legs in suburban and rural communities. But while a slower lifestyle has its perks, including lower costs of living and better access to the outdoors, buying a home is more challenging than you might expect in today’s seller’s market. Stiff competition, all-cash offers, and homes selling above the asking price are shutting many buyers out of the housing market. You’ll need to be in a strong financial position including mortgage preapproval and a cushion for competitive bidding to compete for your dream home.

The coronavirus pandemic has given us a lot to mourn, but it’s also had its silver linings. The disruptions the pandemic brought to our lives caused us to rethink what matters and the ways we spend our time. Going forward, embrace the silver linings by making positive changes like these a permanent part of your life.



So What??

When my daughter was just entering her teen years, it was like an emotional roller coaster.  Little things would become gigantic.  I’ll admit my patience was wearing thin.  One day, when trying to comfort her that everything is fine, it’ll be alright, there, there………  The tears turned into screaming and I blurted out, “Nothing Matters!”

I stormed out and she got quiet.

A couple of years later, I noticed a small post it note on her computer with the words, “Nothing Matters!”  

For some it’s beauty and fashion. For someone else it’s their next fun vacation. Or it could be improving your fitness with yoga, pilates or cardio. Until something matters enough, we won’t make changes to our usual way of life.

A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

Does this sound familiar?  You have a big day planned and start off with lots of energy.  After spending some time in your home office, you find you need frequent breaks just to keep going.   Your motivation and energy are just gone.

Lately this was happening to me a lot.  After several weeks, I finally checked the energy level of my  office with my dowsing rods.  It was a negative 5!  I’ve cleared my whole house, and it normally reads as a positive 20.  I checked for geopathic stress and found 3 lines in my office.  After clearing them, the energy went back up.

I checked the rest of the house.  On the north side, several geopathic stress lines were found.  What was going on?

Here in Texas, May, June and early July were unusually rainy months.  We also have a lot of clay and sandy areas in the soil along with underground springs.  The large amount of rain caused a shift in the soil which created  more geopathic stress lines on the north side of my house.

Taking care of stress lines is like mending the house.  Things happen.  You take clothes to your seamstress or tailor to be altered or repaired.  The same care should be given to the subtle energy of your house or office.

How do you know if your house needs some dowsing?  Are there certain rooms you tend to avoid or where you feel lethargic or you just feel down?  Are you sleeping well?  Do you have more allergies?  Do appliances break down often?  Are your plants sickly?  Are there a lot of arguments in the house?  These are clues that you’re being affected by negative energies from the earth.

A stitch in time saves nine means it’s better to take care of things now rather than put it off till later, when things could get worse and take longer to deal with.

You Can’t Change Your Biology With Affirmations

I used to be under the illusion that saying a few affirmations, eating right, taking my supplements and exercising were my guarantee to live vitally into old age without any physical problems.

The first clue that broke my bubble was at the age of 50 when I was diagnosed with severe Osteopenia.  My doctor said she had never seen such a dramatic drop in bone density.

The Most Stressful Time of the Year And How to go from Surviving to Thriving

Cooking, baking, decorating, holiday cards, looking for that perfect gift for everyone on your list and lots of family time.  Ahh, the holidays.

While we have certain expectations of what it should be and feel the need to live up to that, what’s missing for most of us is any focus on our emotional self-care.  It’s easier to focus on the physical, exercising regularly to lower stress.   Yet the emotional dimension — our thoughts and feelings, even our spirits, are ignored until the drama escalates into an explosive release.

To ignore our emotions is “old-school.”  There’s a reason we have emotions.  Anger, grief, fear — are not necessarily negative.  We need anger to define boundaries.  We need grief to deal with our losses, and fear to protect ourselves from danger.  

Strong emotions that are not processed thoroughly are stored at the cellular level.  This can cause us to feel stuck, repeating the same negative patterns over and over again and wondering why we keep sabotaging ourselves.  Stuck emotions can also lead to “psychosomatic” illnesses.  The definition of psychosomatic is: a physical disorder that is caused by or notably influenced by emotional factors.   I believe 99% of illnesses are psychosomatic.  

So how do we clear our negative emotions and programs?  I’ve tried affirmations.  I’ve also used emotional tapping, where you tap certain meridian points as you talk out your feelings.  Later I found the Emotion Code faster and more efficient.  But I would have to keep clearing the same emotions from time to time.

How To Grow Younger Every Day

This is the third article in the series of my 4 best anti-aging practices.

I’ve reached a point in my life where most people retire.  But I love what I do!  I still love teaching pilates and helping people clear negative energies in their homes and in their lives.  Yet there was a time when I really felt I was slowing down and wondered how much longer I could be active with my pilates classes.  Then a friend told me about something that turned her life around.  She had suffered several broken ribs in a car accident, along with back pain that was not responding to anything the doctors did for her.  Even after 6 months, her ribs were still not totally healed.  She dragged herself from doctor to doctor trying to find relief.  And then one day someone suggested she try a special skin patch — to help with pain, sleep, energy, and repairing cell damage.  It sounded too good to be true, but she was desperate.

The Fabulous Vagus Nerve
