I used to be under the illusion that saying a few affirmations, eating right, taking my supplements and exercising were my guarantee to live vitally into old age without any physical problems.

The first clue that broke my bubble was at the age of 50 when I was diagnosed with severe Osteopenia.  My doctor said she had never seen such a dramatic drop in bone density.

How could that be??  I had been active all my life; an avid tennis player, a runner and hiker, spinning instructor,  personal trainer and a pilates instructor.  I took my calcium faithfully and ate a healthy diet.  What was going on?

Feelings and emotions are not something I ever wanted to even acknowledge, much less deal with.

As the old adage goes, “Only fools keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”  I had only been focusing on the physical without a clue to the mind-body relationship.

In my journey of over 17 plus years to heal myself, I’ve taken different energy healing modalities, worked on releasing emotions, clearing my chakras and releasing blockages in meridians.  They have all helped in some way.

Then a few years ago, I developed severe arthritis in both shoulders.  It was so bad, I could not even drive the stick shift in my Mini Cooper.  I tried changing my diet, the Emotion Code, Quantum Touch and Energy Medicine.  I even paid $4,000 for stem cell therapy.  Eventually someone told me about Theta Healing.  In one session, the arthritis was instantly healed.

Our thoughts and feelings create our reality.  The key is to go beyond the conscious mind to the subconscious where deep emotions reside since childhood.  Any trigger can bring them up and all of a sudden you feel bad or you have a  pain somewhere in your body.  Your mind uses the pain to divert your attention away from the real issue — the deep emotions that want to stay hidden.

So what can you do? 

  1.  The first step is awareness that your body is trying to tell you something and there’s some emotion that you don’t want to deal with.
  2.  Be more community oriented and interested in things outside yourself.
  3. Make time for pleasurable activities.
  4. Set aside time for prayer, meditation or mindfulness.
